WOS TV & Poll: Who Is Top Awards Acceptance?

Date: 23 February 2011

We went through the on-stage footage from the 2011 Whatsonstage.com Awards Concert on Sunday night, and decided that, as all of the acceptance speeches were so great, we’d better share them in full with you.

Plus, in the very final vote in the 2011 Awards campaign, after you’ve viewed the Act One and Act Two highlights reels below, please scroll down to tell us which speech you liked best – just for fun!

Some of our favourite moments include: Meera Syal’s admission that she wasn’t the obvious choice to play a Liverpudlian housewife, Craig Revel Horwood’s dissing of host Christopher Biggins’ jacket, Giles Terera pretending to be Nick Hytner, Zoe Wanamaker pronouncing everyone in the world “extremely attractive”, David Suchet’s question-mark voice, Nigel Lindsay’s Internet cafe loneliness, Joseph Millson’s lectern jig, Ramin Karimloo and Sheridan Smith’s “moment”, Tamsin Greig’s refusal to leave the stage in the longest (and funniest) speech of the night, Yes, Prime Minister’s Emily Joyce (on behalf of the authors) thanking voters for disregarding Michael Coveney’s review of the show, and Cameron Mackintosh just for being there and being Cameron Mackintosh...

The videos below also include brief performance snippets from La Boheme, Departure Lounge and Ghost The Musical as well as Ramin Karimloo singing “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and Alfie Boe’s finale of “Bring Him Home”, which weren’t seen in our earlier highlights reel. Happy viewing!
