Kinnear Hamlet Heads Back to National, 13 Apr Date: 18 February 2011
London theatregoers who missed out on seeing the National Theatre's acclaimed production of Hamlet starring Rory Kinnear, which finished its run in the NT Olivier last month, will have another chance in April when it returns to the smaller Lyttelton Theatre.
According to the Daily Mail, the production, which is directed by Nicholas Hytner, will run in the Lyttelton from 13 to 23 April following its current national tour, with one change to the principal cast. Ellie Turner will replace fellow Ian Charleson Award nominee Ruth Negga as Ophelia (Negga was unable accommodate the additional dates).
Alongside Kinnear - who has won an Evening Standard Award and is nominated for both a Whatsonstage.com (announced on Sunday) and an Olivier Award for his performance in the title role -Hamlet also stars Clare Higgins (Gertrude), Patrick Malahide (Claudius), Alex Lanipekun (Laertes) and David Calder (Polonius).
The tour is currently in Nottingham (until 19 February), before visiting Woking (22-26 February), Milton Keynes (1-5 March), Plymouth (8-12 March) and Luxembourg (17-18 March). Its return to the National will be as part of the Travelex £12 season.
