Hollyoaks' Dunn in Lowry's Peter Pan

Date: 4 November 2010

Sarah Jayne Dunn best known as Mandy Richardson from Hollyoaks is set to star as Mrs Darling in Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure at The Lowry this Christmas.

Dunn first appeared in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks at the tender age of fourteen as wannabe supermodel Mandy and quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with, becoming the longest-standing female character in the soap's history and picking up awards and nominations along the way including Best Actress, Sexiest Actress, Best Dramatic Scene and eventually Best Exit.

Leigh-born Dunn’s other TV roles include The Innocence Project, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Doctors and It’s Adam and Shelley. Last summer she also returned to Hollyoaks for six months. Her film credits included including Northern Cowboys and The Dark Knight alongside Christian Bale as Batman.

Dunn’s stage debut came in the form of the toruing production of comedy Boeing-Boeing, where she played the sexy ball-breaking American, Gloria. She followed this with a tour with The Vagina Monologues, and then played Sally Allbright in a brand new production of When Harry met Sally opposite Rupert Hill.

The all-star cast of Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure includes EastEnders' Thomas Law, better known as Peter Beale who will make his stage début as Peter Pan. Brian Capron, who played the sinister Richard Hillman in Coronation Street, will be increasing his baddie credentials as he stars as Captain Hook. Manchester-born TV favourite John Henshaw will play Smee, Captain Hook’s right-hand man.

J.M. Barrie’s beloved story Peter Pan has held a special place in the hearts of children of all ages for more than 100 years and the classic tale is magically brought to life in this spectacular re-staging of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.

Peter Pan is at the Lowry from Wed 8 December 2010 – Sat 1 January 2011.
