Jon Lee & Julie Atherton Star in Tomorrow Morning

West End stars Jon Lee (formerly of S Club 7) and Julie Atherton will star in a major new fringe production of British composer Laurence Mark Wythe’s award-winning musical Tomorrow Morning, which will run at Clapham’s Landor Theatre from 19 October to 13 November (previews from 12 October).

As one couple prepares to walk down the aisle, another couple is about to divorce. As the clock strikes 12, it becomes clear that this is one couple separated by a decade and nobody is sure that they’re doing the right thing.

Tomorrow Morning - which has book, music and lyrics by Wythe – premiered at Hampstead’s New End Theatre in 2006, when the cast comprised Emma Williams, Stephen Ashfield, Annette McLaughlin and Alistair Robins. Further casting for the Landor production, helmed by artistic director Robert McWhir, has yet to be announced. This new version premiered in Chicago in 2008 with three new songs and a rewritten book and went on to win Best Musical at the city’s 2009 Joseph Jefferson Equity Awards.

Laurence Mark Wythe’s other musicals include Through the Door, which was presented as a Perfect Pitch gala last November at the West End’s Trafalgar Studios, also starring Julie Atherton. Atherton’s other credits include Notes from New York, Fame and Avenue Q. Jon Lee was nominated for a Whatsonstage.com Award for his West End debut in Les Miserables. He’ll be appearing in the musical’s epic 25th anniversary concert at The O2 on 3 October.

The production has musical direction by David Randall, design by Dan R Conley, video by Mike Tutaj and lighting by Mike Robertson. It’s produced by Thomas Hopkins.

Tomorrow Morning will be the third high-profile, West End-cast musical in a row at the Landor, following the current extended revival of Smokey Joe's Cafe starring Over the Rainbow’s Steph Fearon (and briefly, Jessica Robinson), and next month’s production of Maltby and Shire’s Off-Broadway revue Closer Than Ever, with a cast including Clare Burt.
