Local tour dates for Sweeney in Tell Me on a Sunday

Date: 11 August 2010

A rare opportunity to see Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black’s Tell Me On A Sunday. Now reworked by the masters of musical theatre, and with an exclusive new song ‘I Still Believe in Love’, this is the definitive version of the classic musical for 2010.

Originally conceived for television starring Marti Webb, Tell Me on a Sunday has been performed by such legendary musical theatre stars as Elaine Paige, Sarah Brightman and Denise Van Outen. Now Claire Sweeney takes on this celebrated role in a show which features a wonderful score including chart topping ‘Take That Look Off Your Face’, ‘Unexpected Song’ and title track ‘Tell Me on a Sunday’.

CLAIRE SWEENEY is one of the UK’s best-loved personalities with a string of credits to her name on stage and screen, in a career which takes her from Saturday night television to leading roles in London’s West End.

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber’s numerous awards include 7 Tonys, 3 Grammys, 7 Oliviers, a Golden Globe, an Oscar, 2 Emmys and the Richard Rodgers Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre. Don Black is an Oscar winning lyrist (Born Free) and has penned numerous James Bond theme tunes as well as chart hits Michael Jackson’s ‘Ben’ and Lulu’s ‘To Sir With Love’.

Tell Me on a Sunday charts the romantic misadventures of a young English girl newly arrived in New York. Brimming with optimism, she seeks success, companionship and, of course, love. But as she weaves her way through the maze of the city and her own anxieties, frustrations and heartaches she begins to wonder whether - in fact - she's been looking for love in all the wrong places.

Touring from 30 August, the show plays locally at the Kings Theatre, Southsea (25 – 26 October), Pavilion Theatre, Bournemouth (2 November), the Playhouse, Weston-Super-Mare (11 - 13 November), and the Octagon, Yeovil (15 November).
