Galas: Wilton's Musical, All-Star Alan, Palladium

Date: 20 July 2010

Gareth Gates and Glee's Jonathan Groff will star in A Very Musical Evening in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust at the historic Wilton's Music Hall on 26 September 2010.

The evening will also include a Prize Auction as well as a Word Auction, where award winning theatre composer and lyricist duo Stiles and Drewe will create a song during the interval based on words provided by the audience.

A Very Musical Evening is produced by Elliot Davis and Anthony Drewe in association with Ellie Collyer-Bristow and Samuel Joseph. For tickets call 0207 702 2789.

After more than a 30-year absence, Sunday Night at The London Palladium is coming back next month.

Organised and performed by the historic venue's front of house team and theatre crew, the one-off event on 29 August is being staged to mark 100 years of variety at the Palladium. In a canny coincidence, current theatre manager Gareth Parnell shares his name with Val Parnell, who first staged Sunday Night at the London Palladium 55 years ago (its last performance was in 1976).

Gareth Parnell's Sunday Night at The London Palladium will comprise an evening of entertainment with acts “dating from pre-war Vaudeville to the modern day musical era”. For tickets contact thelondonpalladium@gmail.com

Grateful, an evening of musical theatre and gospel music at Cadogan Hall on 12 September will feature West End stars including Hannah Waddingham and Leanne Jones, alongside a 20-piece band and the West End Gospel choir, to raise funds for the Intermission Youth Theatre.

The driving force behind the fundraiser is actor Anton Stephans, who has been fighting a brain tumour for the past two years and now made a complete and successful recovery. He said: “I want there to be no sad songs! I want the audience to feel that they can face anything. They can overcome anything life throws at them!”

He added: “The work that Intermission Youth Theatre does with disadvantage young kids is truly amazing, working on new versions of Shakespeare that they can really relate to gives these youngsters respect and some structure in their lives. A creative outlet through drama really can give them hope and turn lives around."
