Musical Cast: Boys in Wolfboy & Abbot in Oliver!

Date: 27 May 2010

Hollyoaks' Emma Rigby and Avenue Q star Daniel Boys have joined the cast of the London premiere of "psycho-sexual musical thriller" Wolfboy, which premieres at Trafalgar Studios 2 on 8 July 2010 (previews from 6 July), running to 31 July.

Rigby and Boys, who won a Whatsonstage.com Award for Avenue Q, join the previously announced Paul Holowaty (Hollyoaks) and Gregg Lowe (New Boy).

In Wolfboy, two teenagers share an intimate adventure in a boy's home. Bernie has attempted suicide and David is a street hustler who may or may not have the powers of a wolf.

The musical comedy, based on a play by Brad Fraser, has music and lyrics by Leon Parris and is adapted and directed by Russell Labey, who had a hit at Trafalgar 2 last year with New Boy, which starred Nicholas Hoult and was nominated for two 2010 Whatsonstage.com Awards.

In other musical casting news, comedian Russ Abbot is set to reprise the role of Fagin in Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Abbot, who stepped in for the injured Roway Atkinson in April last year, will take over from Griff Rhys Jones from 14 June, starring opposite Kerry Ellis (Nancy) and Steven Hartley (Bill Sykes).

Oliver!, which broke box office records by taking over £15million in advance sales, is directed by Rupert Goold, based on Sam Mendes’ 1994 staging at the London Palladium. The new version is currently booking until 26 February 2011.

Russ Abbot is best known for his long-running TV comedy series The Russ Abbot Show. His West End credits include The Producers, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, My Fair Lady and Caught in the Net.
