Miranda Sings with Jones, Atherton, H & ... You?

Date: 11 May 2010

YouTube phenomenon Miranda Sings is returning to London for two exclusive performances on 27 May and 3 June 2010 at Leicester Square Theatre where she’ll be giving some “much-needed, Miranda-style vocal training” to three West End stars – Whatsonstage.com and Olivier Award winner Leanne Jones (Hairspray), Julie Atherton (Avenue Q) and former Steps band member Ian ‘H’ Watkins (Fame - as well as one Whatsonstage.com reader!

As part of our exclusive competition with the show producers, we’re inviting readers to demonstrate how well they can out-Miranda Miranda by sharing video clips of themselves murdering some of their own favourite show tunes in true Miranda fashion.

The winner of the competition – as judged by the lady herself – will be invited to join Miranda on stage at the 3 June 2010 performance for a special duet in front of the live theatre audience! They’ll also receive a pair of free tickets to the show, as will five runners-up. And all other entrants will get access to a special ticket offer to see the show for just £10 (normally £15).

For inspiration, check out Miranda singing “Seasons of Love” from Rent and “All That Jazz” from Chicago. Or trawl through more clips on her YouTube channel.

With eyebrows that move entirely independently of each other, a crooked smile and a face bearing the remnants of a fight with the lipstick, Miranda – in real life, creator and actor Colleen Ballinger - has caused a sensation on YouTube by posting videos of herself performing her favourite songs comically off-key complete with stiff dance moves and woeful styling.

Our competition closes on Friday 28 May. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 1 June and must be available to attend – and perform! – at the 10.45pm performance at Leicester Square Theatre on Thursday 3 June. The duet will also be filmed for follow-up coverage on Whatsonstage.com.

To the above. Go and find your sense of humor and then come back. Miranda is a beautifully observed, hilarious take on the youtube wannabe generation. Looking forward to catching her live. - Jess
