Chitty flies back to Manchester in April

Chitty set for Empire, 29 June

Date: 11 June 2010

The hit family musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang returns to the region later this month and features a car that really flies!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a lavish stage musical based on the book by Ian Fleming (creator of James Bond), and the much-loved 1968 film of the same name starring Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes.

It’s the story of love and adventure, of good and evil and of a family in search of something missing – all brought together by a truly remarkable car. And there’s no doubt about it…the car’s the star!  Chitty is a glittering contraption of gold, glass and varnished wood, it defies both belief and gravity!

Featuring the iconic score by the renowned Sherman Brothers - which includes such unforgettable songs as "Truly Scrumptious", "Toot Sweets", "Hushabye Mountain" and the Oscar-nominated title song "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" - the previous touring production was a huge success with families.

The show burst onto the world-famous London Palladium stage in 2002 and broke theatre records by becoming the longest running musical ever (1414 performances) at the famous venue.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang runs at the Liverpool Empire from 29 June - 17 July following a successful stint at the Palace Theatre recently.
