Bourne's Reworked Three Acts Returns to Soho
Date: 19 November 2009

A Life in Three Acts, Bette Bourne and Mark Ravenhill's award-winning collaboration which premiered at this year's Edinburgh Fringe, is returning to the Soho Theatre in the new year following its sellout run there last month (See News, 7 Sep 2009).

Divided into three segments, the show tells the story of Bourne's life in his own words, featuring an on stage discussion between Bourne and Ravenhill scripted from edited transcripts of interviews between the pair.

For its return to the Soho, which runs from 9 to 27 February 2010 (preview 8 February), the three parts have been edited into a single version, so that audiences can enjoy the whole story over the course of an evening.

A Life in Three Acts paints an intimate portrait of Bourne, moving from his childhood in the post-war East End through to Soho in the hedonistic 60s to the birth of Gay Lib and life in a 1970s Notting Hill drag commune. As well as looking at his extraordinary personal life and encounters with a range of personalities, the show also celebrates the struggles and achievements of the gay movement.

The original version won a Fringe First and the only Herald Archangel Award at this year's Edinbugh Festival. The run in February will be presented as part of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans Gender History Month, and is produced by Jeremy Goldstein for London Artists Projects.
