Amongst the major London openings - in the West End and further afield - this week are:
ALSO ON TUESDAY (previews from 17 September), Philip Ridley’s 1992 play The Fastest Clock in the Universe is revived as part of Hampstead Theatre’s 50th anniversary season. The production, directed by Edward Dick, marks the stage debut of Jaime Winstone (See News, 20 Aug 2009), and continues until 17 October.
ALSO ON TUESDAY, the New Players Theatre presents Infinite Variety, featuring three emerging acts - Polly Cupcake, La John Joseph and Gemma Whelan - and continuing until 1 November (See News, 10 Sep 2009).
OPENING WEDNESDAY, 23 September 2009 (previews from 16 September), Our Class, Polish dramatist Tadeusz Slobodzianek’s play following a group of schoolchildren as they grow up post-World War II, opens at the National’s Cottesloe Theatre, where it continues in rep until 12 January 2010.
ALSO ON WEDNESDAY (previews from 17 September), comedienne Victoria Wood directs her own 1978 comedy Talent at the Menier Chocolate Factory (See News, 8 Jul 2009). Wood herself starred in the original 1978 production - this time round the cast is led by Leanne Rowe and Suzie Toase as talent show contestants Julie and Maureen.
OPENING FRIDAY, 25 September 2009 (previews from 22 September), Stephen Daldry’s multi award-winning production of JB Priestley’s An Inspector Calls is revived at the Novello Theatre for an eight-week run (See News, 20 May 2009).
