Zoe Tyler plays Eva Cassidy in Over The Rainbow

Date: 10 September 2009

Vocal Coach, Loose Women star and panelist on Any Dream will Do and How do you solve a problem like Maria, Zoe Tyler is is swapping roles as she steps onto the stage as Eva Cassidy in the hit show Over The Rainbow alongside Musicality winner,  Donna Hazleton playing Barbara Cassidy (Eva’s mother) and David Paisley (Holby City, Casualty & River City).

Since its first performance Over the Rainbow has toured constantly and it tells the poignant and moving story of Washington born singer Eva Cassidy.

By the time of her death, she was unknown outside Washington but within four years Terry Wogan discovered and promoted her haunting interpretation of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ to the top of the chart.

This show has now received standing ovations throughout the UK and Ireland and was a huge hit in Holland, winning “Best Production of the Year”.

The show journeys through Eva's life, from her idyllic childhood growing up in a musical family, to her studio work with boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo; to the exuberant live recording of Blues Alley and finally to her tragically premature death at the age of only 33 years.

The musical features over 27 of Cassidy's best loved songs and is at the Albert Halls, Bolton on Wed 30 September.

I saw the production of Over the Rainbow at St George's Hall, Bradford on Saturday 21st November and urge anyone thinking of watching the show, to definitely do so. Close your eyes and it was Eva Cassidy, the vocals by Zoe were amazing, what a voice she has! I have to also congratulate all the cast as their vocals really were excellent, unlike some shows that I have seen. The only part of the show I didn't quite enjoy as much as the rest, was just after the interval, there was what could maybe describe as a performance at a Blues Club, which appeared to be more of a filler in to me, but thankfully after three or four songs, the show got back on track. I will definitely look out for productions where Zoe is performing in future, what a voice! - Phil

I also saw this wonderful production at Crosby town hall. It was amazing Zoe Tylers voice and portrayal of Eva were stunning. Even my husband was nearly in tears!! I cried as soon as she sang "songbird", and then I completlely lost all control! Jayne - Jayne

I saw this wonderful production on 2nd November 2009 at The Lyceum in Crewe. Zoe Tylers performance as Eva Cassidy was simply beautiful, poignant and elegantly understated. Zoe has a fantastic voice with a tremendous range. I was sobbing by the end and went home feeling emotionally drained and looking like a panda!! - Sharon
