Opening: Stovepipe, Hanover, Deep Cut, Invasion

Amongst the major openings in London this week are:

OPENING TONIGHT, Monday 9 March 2009 (previews from 3 March), High Tide, in collaboration with the National Theatre and the Bush Theatre, presents Stovepipe by former journalist Adam Brace, an indoor promenade performance at West 12 shopping mall in Shepherd’s Bush. It tells of the events that unfurl when a mercenary goes missing en route to Iraq and his closest surviving friend embarks on a hunt across the post-war Middle East. Until 26 April 2009.


OPENING TUESDAY, 10 March 2009 (previews from 4 March), Hampstead Theatre’s 50th anniversary season continues with the world premiere of Berlin Hanover Express by Ian Kennedy Martin, set in the Irish consulate in Berlin at the height of the Second World War. Directed by Michael Rudman, it runs until 4 April 2009.

ALSO ON TUESDAY, British Asian theatre company Rifco Arts presents Where's My Desi Soulmate? at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, until 29 March.


OPENING WEDNESDAY, 11 March 2009 (preview 10 March), the award-winning Sherman Cymru production of Philip Ralph’s Deep Cut, a verbatim drama about the suspicious deaths of British soldiers at the Deep Cut barracks, opens at the Tricycle Theatre, continuing until 4 April.

ALSO ON WEDNESDAY, Iris Bahr's one-woman show Dai (Enough), set in a cafe in Tel Aviv which is the target of a suicide bombing, comes to the Shaw Theatre, following runs in New York and Edinburgh. For one week only.


OPENING THURSDAY, 12 March 2009 (previews from 10 March), Company of Angels presents Invasion! by Jonas Hassen Khemiri at Soho Theatre, a satirical comedy about the lives and identities of young Middle-Easterners in Europe directed by Lucy Kerbel. Until 28 March.
