Fascinating Keane Tours New One Woman ShowDate: 8 June 2001
Dillie Keane, the founding member of Olivier nominated female cabaret act Fascinating Aida, returns with a new one woman show. Entitled Back With You, the production will see Keane playing in London and at the Edinburgh Festival, ahead of a national tour.
Back With You represents Keane's third such show. Her previous two outings, Single Again and Citizen Keane, played to sold out audiences around the country with the latter receiving a Perrier nomination. Keane will again be accompanied by her musical director Russell Churney, who regularly plays for both Julian Clary and Barb Jungr. Many of the new songs to feature have been co-written with Keane's colleague Adele Anderson. Promising a "bleakly humorous, splendidly angry song-cycle on the subjects of love, sex and ageing", Back With You opens at London's Pizza On The Park on 2 July.
Following its run in the capital, Keane will take her show to Edinburgh at the Pleasance Dome from 1 August. The regional tour then continues in Bury St Edmonds from 20 September, before calling at Darlington, Reading, Leicester, Nottingham, Blackpool and Norwich.
After studying music in Dublin, and acting at LAMDA, Keane formed the acclaimed Fascinating Aida concept. Originating in a West End Lane wine bar in 1983, the show eventually reached the West End and ultimately performed in ten different countries. The songs of Keane and Anderson, often favourably compared with works by Brel and Coward, have also been translated into several languages. Alongside her musical and stage careers, Keane is also a regular newspaper columnist and radio contributor.
