Williams & Beacham Tour Pre-West End PerfectDate: 12 April 2001Simon Williams’ new comedy embarks on a UK-wide tour later this month, prior to an anticipated West End transfer. Nobody's Perfect, starring Williams and Stephanie Beacham, opens at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on 30 April 2001 before continuing to 4 August and a further ten venues. Myrtle Banbury is the winner of the women-only romantic fiction competition run by feminist publishing house, Love Is All Around. The only problem is, Myrtle is really Leonard (Williams) and in order to claim the prize of a publishing contract s/he has to meet with the publisher (Beacham) - as a woman. Increasingly desperate, Leonard pretends to be his non-existent old Auntie Myrtle, but he fails to let the rest of his family - teenage daughter Dee Dee and Grandpa Gus - in on the secret. Beacham's stage credits include Peter Hall's production of Wilde's An Ideal Husband and Fanny Burney's A Busy Day, both in the West End. She's best known for her television roles in Dynasty, The Colbys and the BBC series Tenko. Writer, director and actor Williams is also well-known for his TV appearances in the likes of Upstairs, Downstairs and Don't Wait Up. His stage acting credits include If This Be Love, The 39 Steps, Kiss of Death, Tartuffe and Noel Coward: The Centenary Celebration. Williams and Beacham are joined in the cast of Nobody's Perfect by Moray Watson (On Approval and Hay Fever) as well as Simon Williams' real-life daughter, Amy Williams. The production is directed by Andy De La Tour. Following Guildford, Nobody's Perfect continues to Malvern, Swansea, Peterborough, Lincoln, Blackpool, Cardiff, Eastbourne, Bradford, Richmond and Canterbury.
