Gomez, Outhwaite & Beaumont Join Boeing’s Crew
Date: 21 December 2006

TV faces Daisy Beaumont, Michelle Gomez and Tamzin Outhwaite (pictured) will join stage veterans Roger Allam, Frances de la Tour and Mark Rylance in the upcoming West End revival of Marc Camoletti’s 1961 French sex farce Boeing-Boeing, which opens on 15 February 2007 (previews from 3 February) at the Comedy Theatre, where it’s initially booking until 28 April 2007 (See News, 8 Dec 2006).

Beaumont, Gomez and Outhwaite will play the three air hostess-fiancées of Allam’s Paris-based English architect Bernard. Juggling them is all a question of timetables and his reliable, down-to-earth maid Bertha (de la Tour), who never forgets to change the photographs in the bedroom. Only when the 'Super' Boeing, with its faster flights, takes over is Bernard landed with a triple problem. His old school friend Robert (Rylance) arrives unexpectedly and joins the set in a whirl of confusion and matchmaking.

Daisy Beaumont’s (who plays Jacqueline) TV work includes Star Stories, Down to Earth, This Life, Close Relations and EastEnders. Her theatre work includes Kevin Elyot’s The Day I Stood Still at the National and Virtual Reality, Private Lives and The Twelve Pound Look, at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre.

Michelle Gomez (Judith) is best known as Staff Liaison Officer Sue White in TV’s The Green Wing. Her other small screen credits The Book Group (for which she was BAFTA-nominated) The Lead Balloon, Wedding Belles, My Family, Manchild and Carrie and Barrie. She’s been seen on stage in Trainspotting, The Vagina Monologues, Sleep with Me and The Master Builder.

Tamzin Outhwaite (Janet) is best known for her TV roles in EastEnders as well as Red Cap, Hustle, Frances Tuesday and Hotel Babylon. Her theatre work includes, most recently, Breathing Corpses and Flesh Wound at the Royal Court.

Boeing-Boeing, which is being slightly rewritten from the original Beverley Cross translation, is directed by Matthew Warchus, fitting it in ahead of his June opening of The Lord of the Rings at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane (See News, 8 Sep 2006). Warchus’ many other credits include Art, Life x 3, Buried Child, Endgame, True West, Our House and Tell Me on a Sunday.

The new production designed by Rob Howell, with lighting by Hugh Vanstone and is presented in the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions, Act Productions, Matthew Byam Shaw and Robert G Bartner.
