WOS TV: Javine, Harvey & Collins Discuss Daddy

Boney M compilation musical Daddy Cool received its world premiere last night (21 September 2006, previews from 15 August) at the West End’s Shaftesbury Theatre (See News, 7 Jul 2006).

The musical – in which pop stars Javine and So Solid Crew’s Harvey lead a 35-strong cast, including EastEndersMichelle Collins - features the hits of Seventies disco group Boney M, as well as other pop hits from the stable of producer Frank Farian, reinterpreted with contemporary influences and set alongside a modern London story loosely based on Romeo and Juliet (See News, 19 Jan 2006).

For Whatsonstage.com TV, we attended the performance and the star-studded post-show party at Floridita in Wardour Street to hear what people had to say on opening night. Our TV interviewees include: stars Harvey, Javine and Michelle Collins, celebrity guests Tony Hadley, Vanessa Feltz, Kéllé Bryan and Leee John, and the show’s co-producer Robert Mackintosh.

Also in the cast of Daddy Cool are Dwayne Wint, Camilla Beeput, Melanie La Barrie, Donovan F Blackwood and Ricky Norwood. The musical has a book by Amani Naphtali. It’s directed by Andy Goldberg and designed by Jon Morrell.
