Extensions: Stomp & Final Dates for Shared's Jane
Date: 4 July 2006

Shared Experience’s adaptation of Jane Eyre, which transferred to the West End’s Trafalgar Studio 1 on 12 May 2006 (previews from 9 May) following a UK tour (See News, 25 Jan 2006), has extended its original six-week run by a further four weeks. It is now scheduled to complete its run on 26 August 2006, when it will be followed by a new production of Martin Sherman’s Bent (See Today’s Other News).

The play, adapted and directed by Shared Experience joint artistic director Polly Teale from Charlotte Bronte’s novel, focuses on the stark contrast between Jane’s strict Victorian upbringing and her passionate, imaginative nature. Jane Eyre previously had a successful London run at the Young Vic in 1997. The cast includes Monica Dolan, James Clyde and Miriam Acharki.

Meanwhile, at the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre, Stomp has added a further four months to its schedule and is now taking bookings up to 11 February 2007.

The award-winning show, which originated in Brighton in 1991 and has previously played at the Roundhouse and Sadler’s Wells, has toured all over the world. It started its first West End run at the Vaudeville Theatre in September 2002 and has now been seen by more than 10 million people.

Stomp transforms the junk and clutter of urban life into a source of rhythm and dance. In 100 minutes, a cast of eight performers use boots, bins, garbage, zippo lighters, plumbers' plungers and everything including the kitchen sink to hammer out a symphony.
