Opening: Smaller, RSC Crucible, Trad & Members

Amongst the major shows opening in London this week are:

OPENING TONIGHT, Monday 3 April 2006 (previews from 28 March), Robert Bathurst and Nicolas Tennant star in the British premiere of Fabrice Roger-Lacan’s hit French two-hander Members Only at Trafalgar Studio 2 (See News, 2 Mar 2006). The limited season continues until to 22 April.

OPENING TUESDAY, 4 April 2006 (previews from 28 March), Dawn French and Alison Moyet star in Smaller, which comes to the West End’s Lyric Theatre following a sell-out regional tour (See News, 21 Nov 2005). The new play by TV writer Carmel Morgan has music by Moyet and is directed by Kathy Burke.

OPENING WEDNESDAY, 5 April 2006 (previews from 29 March), Dominic Cooke’s Royal Shakespeare Company production of Arthur Miller classic The Crucible transfers from Stratford-upon-Avon to the West End’s Gielgud with Iain Glen starring as John Proctor (See News, 7 Mar 2006).

ALSO ON WEDNESDAY (preview 4 April), Timeless, a new play written and directed by Christopher Clarke, receives its world premiere at Hampstead’s New End for a season to 23 April (See News, 16 Mar 2006).

OPENING THURSDAY 6 April 2006 (previews from 4 April), the RSC’s new work season at Soho Theatre continues with Dominic Cooke’s double-bill of American plays, Postcards from America, with Suzanne Burden and Lia Williams, running until 22 April (See News, 13 Dec 2005).

ALSO ON THURSDAY (previews from 4 April), Edinburgh Fringe First Award winner Trad, written by Irish comedian and actor Mark Doherty, comes to the Bush for a season to 29 April (See News, 14 Mar 2006).

ALSO ON THURSDAY (previews from 25 March), the cult 1970s film The Harder They Come is brought to the stage of the Theatre Royal, Stratford East in a version that features all the songs from the film.
