Fringe Cook & Moore Come Again to West End, 7 Mar

As previously tipped (See The Goss, 6 Sep 2005), last year’s Edinburgh hit Pete and Dud – Come Again will receive its London premiere at The Venue, Leicester Square. The play, which celebrates the comedy partnership of the late Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, opens on 7 March 2006 (previews from 2 March) and is initially booking until 3 June.

Uniquely amongst works about the duo, this new comedy drama – which has been expanded to two acts since its Edinburgh premiere - focuses on the pair’s love-hate relationship from Dudley Moore’s perspective. Returning from Hollywood in 1982 after his Oscar nomination for Arthur, Moore appears on a chat show where, through a series of flashbacks and sketches, the highs and lows of his earlier showbiz marriage with Peter Cook is revealed.

In Come Again, Tom Goodman-Hill and Kevin Bishop star as the eponymous Pete and Dud. They’re joined by Colin Hoult and Fergus Craig (aka comedy double act Colin and Fergus) as their Beyond the Fringe collaborators Jonathan Miller and Alan Bennett and Alexander Kirk as Ferguson.

The production is directed by Owen Lewis (How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, Got to Be Happy), designed by Janet Bird and presented in the West End by Simon and Siobhan Rhodes-Johnson, Lee Menzies, Bob Boyett and James Seabright.

Currently at The Venue, sci-fi musical Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, starring Steps’ Faye Tozer, will now finish on 4 February 2006 after a run of two months (See News, 24 Jan 2005).
