Tom, Dick & Harry Posts Closing Notices, 29 Oct
Tom, Dick & Harry Posts Closing Notices, 29 Oct
Date: 4 October 2005

Just days after announcing an eight-week extension (See News, 27 Sep 2005), Ray Cooney comedy Tom, Dick and Harry has posted early closing notices at the West End’s Duke of York’s Theatre. The production opened on 23 August 2005 (previews from 10 August) and had been booking until 12 November. It will now close on 29 October 2005.

Real-life brothers Joe, Stephen and Mark McGann star as the fraternal trio of the title. Joe McGann is Tom Kerwood, a loving husband who just wants to adopt a baby with his wife Linda. But their attempts to impress the busy-body social worker are jeopardised by Tom’s useless brothers, Dick (Stephen) and Harry (Mark), whose zany antics involve illegal immigrants, the Russian mafia and the local police, not to mention a dead body.

Written with his son Michael, Ray Cooney directs the production which also features Mark Wingett, Louise Jameson, Hannah Waterman and David Warwick. The production marks Cooney’s 23rd comedy in the West End. His previous hits have included Run for Your Wife!, Out of Order, Funny Money, Caught in the Net and It Runs in the Family as well as early collaborations with Brian Rix at the Whitehall Theatre.

No further productions have yet been announced for the Duke of York’s.
