Dancing in the Streets Introduces Xmas Version
Date: 28 September 2005

Following yesterday’s news of an eight-week extension to its booking period (See News, 27 Sep 2005), producers of Motown musical Dancing in the Streets have announced a special Christmas version of the show, which will be playing at the West End’s Cambridge Theatre from 21 November 2005 to 7 January 2006 (See The Goss, 22 Aug 2005).

At a press performance for the compilation musical last night, producers said the seasonal edition of the show sees recreations of Motown stars The Four Tops, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Ritchie, Diana Ross & the Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles and Martha Reeves & The Vandellas delivering their versions of such festive classics as White Christmas, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town and Silent Night, as well as the usual line-up of popular Motown hits.

Dancing in the Streets, which opened on 19 July 2005 (previews from 7 July), is directed by Keith Strachan, with choreography by Carole Todd, and is produced by Flying Music, the same company behind The Rat Pack, now running at the Savoy Theatre, which also has a Christmas edition of the show.

Matinee performances have been rescheduled from Fridays to Wednesdays during the six-week run of the seasonal show. Performances will be Monday to Saturday at 8.00pm with matinees on Wednesday at 3.00pm and Saturdays at 4.30pm, except Friday 23 December when performances will take place at 3.00pm and 8.00pm, and Saturday 24 December at 3.00pm. There will be no performances on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
