17 Live Companies Challenge Chelsea Audiences

Date: 9 February 2005

West London’s Chelsea Theatre launches a new initiative tonight (9 February 2005), a spring season entitled Live 05 which brings together no fewer than 17 innovative theatre companies presenting 56 performances over 13 weeks to 5 May 2005.

The season opens with tonight’s debate on the future of theatre, chaired by Guardian critic Lyn Gardner with a panel including Jack Bradley, the National Theatre’s literary manager.

Companies and performers who will be appearing as part of Live 05 are: 1157 (who open the season with their enigmatic and high-tech piece Seen and Not Seen - pictured), Melanie Wilson, Greg McLaren (with his time machine), Glasseyed, Society of Wonders, Demonstrate, Vicki Arbuckle, Rabbit, Bill Aitchison, Sidelong, Strange Names Collective, Zephyr in Zanussi, Marina Sossi, Tangled Feet, Propeller and Theatre Buddha. Third Angel concludes the season with an original look at the modern world.

There are two Live 05 performances a night on selected evenings between February and May and double bill tickets are available at a reduced price.
