C’est Barbican! & Young Vic Beauty Return for Xmas

The Olivier Award-winning adults-only, table-top cabaret show C'est Barbican! is back for a second helping this Christmas at the Barbican, where it returns for a limited season from 14 December 2004 to 9 January 2005.

At C'est Barbican!, audience members book a table and then consult the show menu of more than 30 live acts to choose their own custom-made performances for the evening. Specials include; ‘Barbicancan’, ‘Live Sex Change’, ‘Granny High Leg Kick’ and ‘Natcho Special’.

Duckie, ‘anti-theatre’ group behind C'est Barbican! promises a varied entertainment “from the suggestive to the transgressive to the downright offensive”. Following its run at the Barbican last year, the show won prizes for Best Entertainment at both the Laurence Olivier and Time Out awards.

Also making a Christmas comeback at the Barbican is the Young Vic’s acclaimed 2002 fairytale updating of Sleeping Beauty. Co-produced with the Barbican as part of the Young Vic’s Walkabout season during the two-year refurbishment of latter’s South Bank base, this is a dark retelling based on Charles Perrault’s classic 17th-century fairytale, which takes the story from when Beauty wakes from the kiss. It’s written and directed by Rufus Norris (Festen) and stars Lyndsey Marshal (Boston Marriage, The Crucible). It runs from 11 December 2004 to 11 January 2005 (See News, 7 Jul 2004).
