Bailey Brings Part Troll Stand-up to Apollo, 25 Oct

Date: 7 October 2004

Comedian Bill Bailey (pictured) will bring his hit stand-up show to the West End’s Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, later this month. Bill Bailey - Part Troll will have a limited six-week season, running from 25 October to 4 December 2004.

According to the show’s promotional material: “Bill Bailey is some sort of a freak. There is only one. You have to see him close up to believe. He uses some long words, he plays 43 instruments, one with his own mind. He has special powers. He ain’t no human thing, he may be part troll…”

Part Troll transfers to the West End following extensive UK touring, the Edinburgh Fringe and a previous London season at the Hammersmith Apollo, where the show was filmed for a video/DVD release, due out this November. The British Comedy Award winner is also familiar to TV fans for Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Black Books.

Comedy is becoming a more common fixture on Shaftesbury Avenue. At the Apollo, stand-up Ross Noble finished a month-long engagement on 2 October while the current adult cabaret and fellow Edinburgh hit The Puppetry of the Penis continues until 23 October 2004. Meanwhile, down the road at the Gielgud Theatre, Christian Slater and his co-stars will be performing late-night comedy after four Saturday evening performances of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest this month and next (See News, 5 Oct 2004).
