Cooper's On Your Toes Wins Dance Award DoubleDate: 14 January 2004
Former Royal Ballet principal and AMP Swan Lake star Adam Cooper scooped two of the top prizes in this year’s Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards, announced at a ceremony yesterday at London’s Sadler’s Wells.
Cooper made his musical theatre debut in Leicester Haymarket’s revival of Rodgers and Hart’s On Your Toes, which he both starred in and choreographed. For the production, transferred to London’s Royal Festival Hall this past August, Cooper yesterday was presented with the prizes for Best Choreography (Musical Theatre) as well as the newly established Audience Award for performance.
On Your Toes has also earned Cooper two nominations in this year’s Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Awards – for Best Choreographer and Best Actor in a Musical. The voting continues until 31 January 2004. (Click here to vote!)
