Bomb-itty Plans UK Tour, Closes in London 12 July

Date: 23 June 2003

The Bomb-Itty of Errors will finish its West End season on 12 July 2003, the end of its planned booking period, ahead of a 15-week UK regional tour which will kick off in February 2004. The New York hip-hop musical, based on Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors, opened at the West End's New Ambassadors Theatre on 7 May 2003 (previews from 24 April).

Originally created in 1998 as a senior theatre project at New York University, The Bomb-Itty of Errors went on to become a box office success Off-Broadway and, in 2001, won the Grand Prize in the theatre category at the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival, which led to a deal with MTV. In August 2002, Bomb-Itty received its UK premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it won the company The Stage award for Best Ensemble.

Directed and developed by Andrew Goldberg, Bomb-Itty now features Oliver Mason, Ashley Campbell, Delroy Atkinson and Mark Mansfield. They play 16 roles between them and are supported by DJ Joe Tonge, creating the music live onstage.

Bomb-Itty is followed at the New Ambassadors by Marie Jones' multi award-winning Irish two-hander Stones in His Pockets, which, from 14 July 2003, returns to its original home at the New Ambassadors after nearly two years at the nearby Duke of York's Theatre.
