Fools Challis & Holderness Tour How Other Half Loves

John Challis and Sue Holderness - familiar to fans of the long-running television comedy Only Fools and Horses as husband and wife Boycie and Marlene - revive their screen marriage on stage in a new tour of Alan Ayckbourn's How the Other Half Loves. The production opens this week at the Theatre Royal Windsor, where it continues to 31 May 2003 before touring to 14 further venues until 6 September 2003.

In Ayckbourn's 1969 comedy, Frank and Fiona Foster (Challis and Holderness) have problems and, by forgetting their wedding anniversary, Fiona doesn't help matters. Meanwhile, Frank's social-climbing colleague Bob and his world-weary Teresa are also troubled. Accepting dinner invitations from both couples on consecutive nights, socially inept William and Mary are in for more than a few surprises.

Challis and Holderness are joined in the cast of How the Other Half Loves by Gary Turner and Carli Norris (as Bob and Teresa) and Richard Kane and Lavinia Bertram (as William and Mary). The revival is directed by Mark Piper, executive director at Windsor, and designed by Julie Godfrey, with lighting by Douglas Kuhrt.

Following Windsor, How the Other Half Loves visits Bromley, Newcastle, Norwich, Richmond, Glasgow, Woking, Northampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Southend, Plymouth, Ipswich, Malvern, Belfast and Leeds. The tour is produced by Bill Kenwright, in association with the Theatre Royal Windsor and Churchill Theatre Bromley.
