Mum's the Word Announces Closure at Albery, 7 Jun

Date: 15 April 2003

Canadian comedy Mum's the Word - featuring the all-star, all-female cast of comedian Jenny Eclair, T’Pau lead singer Carol Decker, actresses Imogen Stubbs, Cathy Tyson and EastEndersPatsy Palmer and show co-creator Barbara Pollard – has posted closing notices in the West End. It opened at London’s Albery Theatre on 18 March 2003, following previews from 8 March, and will now close on 7 June 2003 after a run of three months.

In Mum's the Word, six mums come together to share their experiences about rearing their children in a series of humorous, moving and embarrassing stories - delivered as a monologues - that reveal the truth about how parenthood changes your life.

Originally seen in 1993 at the Vancouver Festival in Canada, the comedy was written by six female friends - Linda A Carson, Jill Daun, Alison Kelly, Robin Nichol, Debora Williams and Pollard - about their own real-life experiences as mothers. It's since been presented in Australia and Scotland. The show had a successful UK tour in autumn 2002.

The London production of Mum's the Word is directed by Wayne Harrison and designed by Judy Reaves, with lighting by Gavin Norris. It’s presented by Robert C Kelly and Clear Channel Entertainment.

The next production for the Albery Theatre has not yet been announced.
