Bin Laden's Wanted Dead or Alive for Etcetera Xmas

Date: 6 December 2002

The Etcetera Theatre in Camden, north London, is the brave host next week of a new play, billed as "the most shocking production of the festive season", about the Western world's most wanted man, terrorist Osama Bin Laden. Wanted Dead or Alive, which is paired with Roddy Maude-Roxby's Yelps from the Cave, runs from 10 to 22 December 2002.

Written and performed by award-winning Scottish playwright Andrew Dallmeyer, Wanted Dead or Alive finds Bin Laden alive and well - albeit with a suicide bomb strapped around his waist - posing as Father Christmas to unsuspecting American children in a shopping mall.

Railing against the hypocrisy of the American Dream, the character focuses on the fall-out from the events of September 11, questions how US foreign policy and US interests may have led to the atrocity and explores just what drives people to commit acts of violence. Just who exactly is retaliating against whom?

Each night, Wanted Dead or Alive is followed by Yelps from the Cave, an audience with Maude-Roxby, the improvisational mind behind companies such as Theatre Machine and Alice's Diner.
