Issey Ogata Returns to London for Five Shows OnlyDate: 10 September 2002Renowned Japanese comedian Issey Ogata is returning to the London stage for just five performances in October. Ogata will be at the Playhouse Theatre from 23 to 27 October 2002. Described as "Tokyo's Woody Allen", Ogata (pictured) will appear alongside his long-time collaborator Kaori Momoi, a leading Japanese film actress in the new comedy show billed as "a hilarious and dark journey into human nature". Presented in four scenes, the piece exposes the absurdity of people's basic reactions when confronted with extreme situations. Since making his international debut in 1993, Ogata has launched 17 tours on three continents while still managing to fit in film-making, novel-writing and doing illustrations. This will be his fifth appearance in London. The show will be performed in Japanese and accompanied by a live simultaneous translation. Related Content |
