Corrie's Callard Leads Mum's the Word Tour, 3 Sep

Date: 3 September 2002

Coronation Street's Beverley Callard leads the cast in a new UK tour of Canadian comedy, Mum's the Word, which opens tonight, 3 September 2002, at Stoke-on-Trent's Regent Theatre before continuing until 9 November 2002 to nine further venues.

In Mum's the Word, six mums come together to share with each other their humorous, moving and embarrassing stories about rearing their children in a comedy that hangs the dirty nappy laundry of maternity out to dry and reveals how parenthood really changes your life.

Originally seen in 1993 at the Vancouver Festival in Canada, the play was written by six female friends about their own real-life experiences as mothers. It's since been presented in Australia and Scotland.

The new UK production stars Callard (best known for her long-running role as Liz McDonald in Coronation Street), Julia Watson (Dr Baz from Casualty) and Tina Malone (Mo McGee from Brookside), joined by Polly Highton, Carole Anders and Anna Healy. It's directed by Wayne Harrison.

Following Stoke-on-Trent, Mum's the Word visits Manchester, Reading, Liverpool, Birmingham, Folkestone, Felixstowe, Torquay, Dartford and York.
