Lobby Hero Pulls Forward Closing Date to 10 Aug

Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero, which transferred to the West End for a limited season after receiving its UK premiere as part of the Donmar Warehouse American Imports season, has pulled forward its closing date at the New Ambassadors Theatre, where it opened on 26 June 2002. It will now finish on 10 August 2002, one week earlier than planned.

Set in the foyer of a New York apartment building, Lobby Hero follows Jeff, a luckless young doorman, who unwittingly becomes embroiled in a murder investigation and ends up falling for rookie cop, Dawn.

The original Donmar cast of David Tennant, Charlotte Randle, Gary McDonald and Dominic Rowan star in the production, directed by Mark Brokaw and designed by Rob Jones, with lighting by Rick Fisher.

Tennant's numerous stage credits include Comedians (Oxford Stage Company), King Lear (Royal Exchange), Vassa (Almeida at the Albery), the double bill of The Real Inspector Hound and Black Comedy (a Donmar Warehouse production at the Comedy) and, for the RSC, Romeo and Juliet, The Comedy of Errors, As You Like It and The Herbal Bed.

Randle has recently been seen on stage in The Man Who Had All the Luck (Sheffield Crucible), Romeo and Juliet (National), Marat/Sade (National), The Taming of the Shrew (RSC) and The Dispute (RSC). On TV, she's played Teresa Lawless on Eastenders, while her film credits include The Honest Courtesan.

Meanwhile, Lonergan's other recent West End hit, This Is Our Youth, is expected to return to London in the autumn. The three-hander finished its initial star-studded season - Hollywood's Hayden Christensen, Jake Gyllenhaal and Anna Paquin followed by Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix - at the Garrick Theatre in June. Amongst those screen stars rumoured to be signing up to the play are Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire.
