Comedians Join Monologues Live at the Arts

Date: 14 November 2001

The West End's Arts Theatre today launches a season of comedy shows - featuring comedians Noble and Silver, Dillie Keane, Jackie Cue and Mike Daisey - which will run concurrently with the hit production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues. "Live at the Arts" opens today, 14 November 2001, and continues until the end of February 2002, with nightly performances at 9.15pm.

Noble and Silver (pictured) open the comedy season with their show from this year's Edinburgh Fringe. The duo last year won the Perrier "Best Newcomer" award in Edinburgh and have recently launched their own TV series on E4. They will play at the Arts from 14 November to 1 December 2001.

They are followed by Jackie Clune, the "undisputed queen of the cocktail lounge" with her Bitchin' Christmas, which runs from 3 December 2001 to 5 January 2002. Clune's acerbically seasonal musings are laced with medleys of favourite "crap" pop songs including original tributes to Destiny's Child, Dido and J Lo.

Dillie Keane, founding member of the Olivier-nominated cabaret group Fascinating Aida, takes over from 7 to 27 January 2002. Keane will be performing one-woman show Back With You - telling stories and singing songs about her life - following dates in Berlin and Edinburgh and a successful UK tour.

Mike Daisey rounds out the "Live at the Arts" season with his My Time at Amazon.com. The new media hit from Seattle was the overall winner at this year's New York Fringe. In it, Daisey gives an insider's view of he rise and fall of the "new economy".

Ensler's The Vagina Monologues currently stars Sophie Dahl, Miriam Margolyes and Suzanne Bertish. Details of a new cast are expected soon.
