Harvey's Hushabye Mountain Tours from 3 Feb

Jonathan Harvey's new play Hushabye Mountain will receive its premiere this spring with the English Touring Theatre. The play will open 3 February at the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe before touring to Liverpool, Darlington, Bracknell, Brighton, Cambridge, Manchester and Poole. It transfers to the London fringe Hampstead Theatre to run from 12 April to 3 May.

Hushabye Mountain is centred around a group of bright young things, in a world learning to live with AIDS. The twin settings of Heaven and Earth show Danny enjoying the company of Judy Garland in Heaven, while down on Earht his boyfriend is trying to come to terms with Danny's death.

'I wrote the play because I was becoming increasingly aware of the different treatments available for HIV positive people,' says Harvey. 'When I thought of the friends I had lost to HIV, I got very angry that they had not experienced the benefits of these treatments.'

Harvey's Guiding Star, about a family living with the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster, is currently playing at the National Theatre. Hushabye Mountain is directed by Paul Miller with design by Jackie Brooks, lighting design by Andy Phillips and musical composition by Terry Davies.

The cast includes Nick Bagnell, Andrew Lincoln, Stuart Laing, David Kennedy, Rose Keegan and Elizabeth Estensen.
