Royal Ballet Opens at Labatt's ApolloDate: 25 September 1997The Royal Ballet opened its first touring season last night with a production of Romeo and Juliet at Labatt's Apollo, Hammersmith in west London. Although the debut performance featuring French star Sylvie Guillem received positive reviews, worries remain that the ballet will have difficulty consistently filling the 3,500 seat auditorium, more than twice the size of its Covent Garden home which is closed until December 1999 for a £213m redevelopment. The audience on the Ballet's opening night included Princess Margaret. Related Content |
