Booking Opens for Whistle Down the WindDate: 4 February 1998Booking has now opened on Andrew Lloyd Webber's latest musical Whistle Down the Wind which opens at the Aldwych Theatre on 1 July 1998. The initial booking period will run to 1 October 1998. The musical has been reworked substantially since its tryout run in Washington, DC last year. The revised production, directed by Gale Edwards with music by Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Jim Steinman, will see its world premiere at the Aldwych. The musical is inspired by Richard Attenborough's 1961 film from the Mary Hayley Bell novel of the same name in which three farm children discover a man hiding in a barn and believe that he is Jesus. Lloyd Webber, Steinman and Patricia Knop (co-book writer with Lloyd Webber) have taken the original story and reset it in the American Deep South, Louisiana, in 1959. Related Content |
