First Royal Court International Writers FestivalDate: 18 November 1997The Royal Court Theatre's first International Writers Festival starts today. Over the past five years, the Theatre, renowned for its encouragement of new writing in Britain, has also pioneered an international play development programme, including an annual summer school in London. The new Festival, produced in association with the John Studzinski Foundation, will become a biennial event with productions of contemporary plays developed in different parts of the world. This first festival, which runs until 20 December, will focus on Europe. Three young writers from France, Spain and Germany will receive their British premieres over the next month. Related Content |
