100 Youngsters To Be Recruited for Dome ShowDate: 2 July 1998The New Millennium Experience Company has started a recruitment drive throughout the UK for 100 young people to appear in the Millennium Dome at Greenwich. The young people will be specially trained in circus skills to perform in the central show in the Millennium Dome Exhibition. The live show will run up to six times a day in front of audiences of at least 12,000 people. The successful candidates will form part of the Millennium Show Company and, performing at heights of up to 150 feet, will produce a display of aerial acrobatic skills comparable with the greatest circus performances in the world. Two casts of 40 (with 20 extras) will be trained. The first of two training courses will start in the autumn at the Circus Space, London, following auditions that will take place throughout the country. The trainees will be eligible for a grant. On completion of the course in September 1999, students will receive a Certificate in Higher Education. They will then be employed and begin rehearsals for the central show in preparation for performances in 2000. Young people aged 16-plus wishing to audition should call 0800 665499. Lines will remain open until 17 July 1998. Related Content |
