Irish Dance Show Closes at Drury Lane, 5 FebDate: 28 January 2000The latest Irish dance extravaganza, Dancing on Dangerous Ground, which opened at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 6 December 1999 after delays due to technical problems, closes next week. Its final show will be Saturday 5 February 2000. Following the international success of Riverdance and Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance, Irish dancers Jean Butler and Colin Dunne, former Riverdance stars themselves, spent two years collaborating on Dangerous Ground. The two created and choreographed the show, based on an ancient Irish myth, and lead the company of over 30 dancers, actors and musicians on stage. Dancing on Dangerous Ground now hopes to transfer to New York City's Radio City Music Hall before embarking on a North American tour. The next production due at Drury Lane is Cameron Mackintosh's much talked about musical adaptation of John Updike's The Witches of Eastwick, starring Ian McShane, Lucie Arnaz, Maria Friedman and Joanna Riding.
