Injury May Contribute to Disappointing Sales for Royal BalletDate: 3 September 1997 Star ballerina Darcy Bussell has suffered a foot injury and is likely to withdraw from her starring roles in the Royal Ballet's programme this autumn. Bussell has featured on posters across the city inviting people to 'Follow Me To Hammersmith', where the Ballet is installed at Labatt's Apollo while its Covent Garden home is renovated. Even before the injury, however, the invitation hadn't been taken up by many. It's estimated that less than 30 percent of seats have been sold for the new ballet season, half the usual advance ticket sales. Royal Opera ticket sales for performances at its new homes of the Barbican, Royal Albert Hall and Shaftesbury Theatre have also been below expectations. Related Content
