Defending the Caveman Opens at Apollo 17 FebDate: 3 February 1999
Australian comedian and television presenter Mark Little will make his West End debut this month in the UK premiere of Defending the Caveman, a new one-man comedy by Rob Becker. The play opens at the Apollo Theatre on 17 February, following previews from 9 February. There will be special Valentine's Day performances, evening and matinee, on Sunday, 14 February.
Why do men and women misunderstand each other? The answer can be traced back to the caveman. Defending the Caveman catalogues the instantly recognisable traits that separate men and women and brings the historical 'battle of the sexes' bang up to date. But, although it highlights differences, the play's underlying message is that, from these, 'springs the potential for bridge-building rather than potential warfare.'
Mark Little first came to British public's attention as 'Joe Mangle' in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. His other work in the UK includes a stint as presenter of morning TV programme The Big Breakfast and sell-out runs in his own stand-up comedy shows.
Defending the Caveman is endorsed by John Gray, author of Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus.
