Irish playwright Enda Walsh's acclaimed Disco Pigs returns to London in June for a seven-week season at fringe venue the Arts Theatre. The revival follows sell-out runs last year at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Bush Theatre. Following the Arts Theatre engagement (9 June - 25 July), Disco Pigs will return to Edinburgh's Traverse Theatre for another four-week season at the Fringe Festival before embarking on a national tour.
Cillian Murphy and Eileen Walsh resume their roles as Darren and Sinead, born in the same hospital in Cork at the same moment. Now 17, they call each other Pig and Runt and are the inarticulate quintessence of the 'me' generation which craves freedom, action and excitement. They are shiny-faced and sweaty and out of their heads on whizzing hormones, stolen alcohol and stumpy fries.
Enda Walsh received the 1997 George Devine Writer's Award for Disco Pigs. Pat Kiernan directs this Corcadorca production. Dates and venues are soon to be confirmed for the three-month national tour.
