Musicals Festival Debuts Next Week
Date: 20 August 1997

What's claimed to be the first ever International Festival of Musicals opens next week at the Buxton Opera House. The ten-day amateur theatrical event (23 August - 1 September) showcases the work of societies from around the UK and the USA performing favourites such as Hello, Dolly, Hair and Oklahoma. Other highlights include a Circus Skills Workshop and Talent Quest, a one-day competition to find the best male and female amateur singers.
