Chicago Booking Period Extended Yet Again Date: 29 January 1998
The West End production of Chicago took £3m in ticket sales in a mere four days last week when it extended its booking period from 18 April to 31 October 1998. Demand is so high that producers quickly extended the booking period yet again - to 30 January 1999. Weekly trade newspaper The Stage reports that the £3m sum is one of the biggest advances to be recouped by a production in such a short space of time in West End box office history. The newly extended booking period will make a further 200,000 tickets available for theatre-goers.
