Sing with the Royal Opera

Date: 8 April 1998

Two thousand singers will have a unique opportunity on Sunday 19 April when Terry Edwards, director of the Royal Opera Chorus, invites all-comers, from the pitch-perfect to the self-confessed tone-deaf, to join him in a day of singing at the Barbican Centre. Members of the public will take part in a concert performance alongside soloists from the Chorus and the Orchestra of the ROH.

The day will begin with rehearsals led by Edwards accompanied by ROH staff and Russian and French language coaches on hand to assist with pronunciation. Choruses from Carmen, Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg, Eugene Onegin, Dido and Aeneas, Prince Igor, Guillaume Tell and Faust will be rehearsed, culminating in a gala concert at 7.45pm that evening.

Individual tickets for participants will cost £20 for the day. A few seats at £15 will be available for non-participants at the Concert only. Participants will need a copy of Oxford University Press' Choral Classic Opera Choruses which can be purchased through the Barbican Centre's box office at a special price of £8.85, including postage and packaging.

Contact the box office on +44-171-638-8891 for more information.
