Ballet Black Returns To LinburyDate: 22 January 2010 The small troupe for black and Asian dancers returns to the Linbury Studio Theatre this March with four new ballets by choreographers Robert Hylton, Raymond Chai, Christopher Hampson and Henri Oguike.
“We’re delighted to return to the Linbury Studio Theatre in 2010 following our sell-out performances in 2009,” says Ballet Black’s founder Cassa Pancho who’s stated mission is to dispel the myth that black people are not good ballet dancers. “With our new line up of challenging and diverse ballets, created by four extraordinary and inspiring choreographers, we hope this performance will be our most exciting to date.”
Pancho, who has just won this year's Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards for Outstanding Company, has quickly established herself as a lively force in British dance, and is noted as much for her inspired commissioning policy as the colour of her dancers.
