Plays Cast: Winslow Boy, Beautiful Thing & Curve's Piaf

Full casting has been announced for the Old Vic's forthcoming revival of Terence Rattigan's The Winslow Boy. The production, directed by Lindsay Posner, runs from 8 March to 25 May 2013.

The 1946 play centres a father, Arthur Winslow, striving to prove the innocence of his 14-year old son, Ronnie, after he is expelled from the Naval college for theft.

As previously reported, Henry Goodman will play the role of Arthur Winslow, and he'll be joined by Charlie Rowe as Ronnie Winslow. Rowe is best known for playing the role of Peter Pan in the mini-series Neverland and has also appeared in the films Never Let Me Go, The Golden Compass, The Boat That Rocked and The Nutcracker 3D. His only other West End stage credit is The Snowman.

The cast also features Sia Berkeley (Miss Barnes), Deborah Findlay (Grace Winslow), Naomi Frederick (Catherine Winslow), Nick Hendrix (Dickie Winslow), Stephen Joseph (Fred), Wendy Nottingham (Violet), Peter Sullivan (Sir Robert Morton), Richard Teverson (John Watherstone) and Jay Villiers (Desmond Curry).

Alongside Posner on the production team are Peter McKintosh as set designer, Tim Mitchell as lighting designer, Michael Bruce as music director, Fergus O'Hare as sound designer and Julia Horan as casting director.


In other play casting news:

  • Further casting has been announced for the revival of Jonathan Harvey's Beautiful Thing, which comes to the Arts Theatre fron 13 April-25 May ahead of a national tour. Joining the previously announced Suranne Jones (Sandra), are Zaraah Abrahams (Leah), Oliver Farnworth (Tony), Jake Davies (Jamie), and Danny-Boy Hatchard, making his professional debut as Ste. Directed by Nikolai Foster, it's designed by Colin Richmond and produced by Tom O'Connell for QNQ Ltd.

  • Joining Frances Ruffelle in the forthcoming revival of Pam Gems' Piaf at Leicester Curve will be Oliver Boot, Jason Denton, Sean Dodds, Tiffany Graves, Russell Morton, Laura Pitt-Pulford, Dale Rapley and Stephen Webb. Directed by Paul Kerryson and running from 22 February to 16 March 2013, the production that marks the 50th anniversary of Piaf's death.
