Three Phantoms (Tour – Manchester)

They have taken on one of the most iconic musical theatre roles in the world. And now Matthew Cammelle, Stephen John Davis, and Gluyn Kerslake are thrilling audiences with their Three Phantoms Autumn Tour.

Known for taking on the leading role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, the trio have joined forces to share their memories of their time in the thrilling production, as well as perform a diverse selection of numbers from over 20 well-known musicals. From Wicked, to Les Miserables, to Jersey Boys, no song is left uncovered.

The stars are supported by Rebecca Caine, who has played Christine in Phantom, as well as established performers Alistair Barron, Mandy Watsham Dunstall, and Annette Yeo.

All in all, this is an enjoyable and captivating show – full of comedy, insight, singing and live music. Its interactive element gives it a wonderfully intimate feel, making it easy to forget that you are in a theatre. And some of the performances, including “One Day More” from Les Miserables and “Mr Cellophane” from Chicago, are undoubtedly spine-tingling.

However, the very nature of the gala show does mean that there is always a personal preference when it comes to songs performed. Yes, each number was executed with experience and exceptional talent , but there are times when the choice of repertoire could have catered more to the audience, rather than the performer.

Regardless of this, it is a pleasure to see such huge stars sharing their diverse talent at Manchester Opera House, and for any musical theatre fan then the “Music of the Night” will leave you feeling thoroughly entertained.
