West End hit The Pride tours to Manchester

Jamie Lloyd’s production of Alexi Kaye Campbell’s play is heading out on tour after an acclaimed run at Trafalgar Studios

Alexi Kaye Campbell’s play The Pride is headed to Manchester in the New Year, following acclaim at the Trafalgar Studios, where it is currently playing.

It stars Harry Hadden-Paton, Gavin & Stacey‘s Matthew Horne, Naomi Sheldon and Al Weaver.

Harry Hadden-Paton’s stage credits include The Changeling at the Young Vic, She Stoops to Conquer at the National Theatre, Flarepath at the Haymarket Theatre, and Posh at the Royal Court Theatre.

Mathew Horne’s stage credits include Charley’s Aunt (Menier Chocolate Factory) and Entertaining Mr Sloane at Trafalgar Studios. He is best known on screen for his regular roles in Gavin & Stacey, Bad Education and The Catherine Tate Show.

Naomi Sheldon’s stage credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Royal & Derngate Theatre, The Mouse & His Child and The Merry Wives of Windsor, both for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Sex with a Stranger at Trafalgar Studios.

Al Weaver’s stage credits include Inadmissible Evidence at the Donmar Warehouse, The Seagull at the Arcola Theatre, Coram Boy at the National Theatre, and Hamlet at the Old Vic.

Alexi Kaye-Campbell’s first play The Pride, originally staged at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, is directed by Jamie Lloyd, and the winner of an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an affiliate theatre, a Critic’s Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright and the John Whiting award for Best New Play. He has since written Apologia, The Faith Machine, Bracken Moor and he is currently working on his first feature film, Woman in Gold, with Simon Curtis for BBC Films and Origin Pictures.

Jamie Lloyd has previously directed The Hothouse and Macbeth (Olivier nomination for Best Revival) as part of his season for Trafalgar Transformed. Other theatre credits include: The Commitments (Palace Theatre), Cyrano de Bergerac (Roundabout Theatre Company; American Airlines Theatre, Broadway) and The Duchess of Malfi (Old Vic).

The Pride is at the Manchester Opera House from 20 – 24 January, 2014.
